History

The first orange wines were produced 4 500 years ago in Georgia, where traditionally, the grapes were not pressed before initiating fermentation.

The Georgians practiced the maceration of white wines there, which they left to age in buried amphorae. These large clay vessels, called kvevris, are indeed particularly suitable for maturing these wines. The whole region, including Armenia and Azerbaijan, continued to produce wine in this almost manner.

How is it made ?

A white wine vinified like red wine

To produce an orange wine, the grapes are macerated with all their solid parts (seeds, skin, and stalk). The components of the skin and the stalk then release pigments and tannins, which give the wine this particular color of orange with gold sparkles. The sweet bitterness which stands out in this maceration using whole clusters is typical of orange wines.

The Orange Color

Meaning: optimism, open minded, good vibrations.

It therefore symbolizes creativity, communication, joy, energy, health and safety. Associated with liveliness and the sun, this color evokes human warmth and cohesion.

It is also the color of Epicureanism, the one who awakens the sensations of the body.

Orange in Spirituality:

In Asia orange is a sacred color associated with the second chakra and found on the clothing of Buddhist monks. As for Indian culture, there orange is synonymous with advanced spirituality.

The second chakra in spirituality represents a mastery of the senses, a strong emotional capacity, rhythm and movement. It is also the color of the purifying fire which cleanses, therefore the color of liberation.
